We See It All

We see it all, don't we--
You and I?
We see the dung and the blood
And the oil and the mud.
We see the ketchup and the jam
And the nail polish and lipstick.
Sometimes we find a love note
or a test paper someone tried to hide.
We learn a lot that they would not confide.
Day in and day out
We make them come clean,
My daily companion--

My washing machine.
