Matthew 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
¶Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them
shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
at that. The damnation of hell was coming on THAT GENERATION. That
shows that hell was something about to happen in THEIR TIME, in THEIR
GENERATION. Otherwise, what was the point of saying when it would come?
And look, they are to pay for all the righteous blood shed on the
earth. Rome isn't going to have to pay. Washington, DC, isn't going to
have to pay. Jerusalem had to pay.
Revelation 16:6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
Revelation 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
Revelation 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
There's no mistaking who this woman is. She is none other than
Jerusalem. The Bible explains itself. And if the woman/city being
destroyed is Jerusalem, then the new, heavenly Jerusalem is none other
than the glorified church. And God didn't let thousands of years go by
between the destruction of the old and the bringing in of the new. Why
would He do that? Once the old temple was destroyed and God no longer
dwelt in it, He dwells in His new temple on earth--the church. Jesus is
the light of the world. We are no longer in darkness and don't need the
light of the sun. We have the living waters (water of life). We have
the tree of life (no more death because Jesus gave Himself to break the
curse and give us eternal life). It is finished. It is FINISHED.
